Vauxhall has released a new TV advert featuring members of the England Football Squad, less than two weeks before the start of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
The advert, called ‘Stand Together’, was aired to the public for the first time on Friday 30th May, just before kick-off of England’s friendly match against Peru on ITV.
The 60 and 40 second ads feature current members of the England Football Squad, including Steven Gerrard, Wayne Rooney, Glen Johnson and Joe Hart. The new adverts also feature numerous current models from Vauxhall’s range such as the latest Astra hatchback and the Insignia.
Also featured in Vauxhall’s new football advert is the company’s Ellesmere Port production facility based in Merseyside. The site is the UK home for production of the latest Vauxhall Astra. It is also the same facility where the next-generation Astra will be built starting from next year.
The new Vauxhall advert opens with England players preparing in the dressing room ahead of the game with a voiceover stating: “For every doubter, there is a believer”.
In the meantime, fans, children and even a dog line-up shoulder-to-shoulder across the length and breadth of the country. As fans climb the hill to the Angel of the North, staff at the Vauxhall Ellesmere Port plant line-up on the production line ahead of the match. The ad concludes with numerous England players standing together on the pitch and the voiceover ending: “Together we stand, for we are England and we are proud”.
Vauxhall’s Marketing Director, Peter Hope, commented: “Stand Together brings players and fans together at such a monumental time within the football calendar. We are proud to support the England Team and wish them and Roy Hodgson luck as they embark on their matches ahead.”
Hope added: “During a major tournament we all become football fans and as the England Team sponsor, we wanted to capture the emotion just before a major England fixture.”
Vauxhall’s England Football Team sponsorship has been ongoing since early 2011. Since the sponsorship deal began, Vauxhall has been supplying new cars to members of staff at the football team. For example, an Insignia Sports Tourer was given to the England Team’s manager, Roy Hodgson, not long after he took on the role back in 2012.
Vauxhall’s current involvement in football stretches beyond the England National Team. The manufacturer is also a major sponsor for the other Home Nation football associations, including the Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland teams. Since January 2014, Vauxhall has also been sponsoring Liverpool Football Club.
