New Citroen Relay range uncovered

The new Citroen Relay range builds upon the strengths of its popular predecessor with class-leading payloads and load space practicality, more safety features and extra-efficient engines.

Citroen are set to launch the new Relay range to the UK market during the third quarter of this year.

Citroen is developing its new Relay range in conjunction with the new Peugeot Boxer, also recently revealed, as well as the new Fiat Ducato.

The new Relay is very different in terms of styling, sporting a distinct new front end and large high-mounted headlights, incorporating daytime running lights as standard.

With its new Relay range, Citroen is offering a wide variety of different panel vans with three different wheelbase lengths, three different body heights and four load lengths, measuring in volume of eight to 17 cubic metres.

In regards engines, the new Citroen Relay uses a 2.2-litre turbodiesel with outputs available including 109bhp, 128bhp or 148bhp. With the 128bhp output the Relay’s new diesel can benefit from fuel-saving engine stop-start technology.

On official combined fuel cycles the new Citroen Relay can return up to 41.5mpg and the whole range is on average 15 per cent more efficient compared to its predecessor’s line-up. All new models in the Relay range emit less than 200g/km in CO2.

The interior of the new Citroen Relay is a noticeable improvement in terms of quality compared to its predecessor as well. Standard equipment includes electric windows and Bluetooth connectivity. Accessing the rear load for the standard panel van should prove easy with the standard sliding slide-load door.

Standard safety features onboard the Relay include anti-lock brakes (ABS) and electronic stability control (ESC). Also on standard panel vans is satellite navigation and Trackstar stolen vehicle tracking.

A range of extra kit like parking sensors and a reversing camera are also available optionally.

The new Citroen Relay range can be specified by customers with a range of optional packs which add even more safety or luxury kit to the van. The packs include the Look Pack, City Pack, Comfort Pack, All-Road Pack and Safety Pack.

The Look Pack uses LEDs for the daytime running lights and also brings front fog lights to the Relay. The City Pack adds the rear parking sensors and camera as standard along with electric and heated door mirrors.

The Comfort Pack adds comforts like auto rain sensitive wipers, auto air conditioning and a leather steering wheel. The All-Road Pack brings traction control and under body protection to the new Citroen Relay. Finally the Safety Pack introduces a Lane Departure Warning System, passenger air bad and tyre pressure sensors.
