The new Transit Courier, which shares the same wheelbase with the Ford Fiesta, will offer best-in-class fuel efficiency and load space. In Ford’s current van line-up the Transit Courier sits just above the Fiesta Van and below the Transit Connect. This is the smallest van Ford has ever made to bear the iconic Transit name.
The chassis has been especially tuned with a unique steering ratio and innovative dual-rate rear springs that help to deliver class-leading driving dynamics under all load conditions. The new springs allow the Transit Courier to offer a smooth and refined ride whether or not it is carrying a load.
Ford also reports that the Transit Courier offers around 10 per cent more load volume than its direct competitors. Behind the bulkhead the van is able to store up to 2,300 litres of cargo. The long 1.62m loading floor within the Transit Courier should be easily accessible for owners via the sliding side doors.
Customers can also add optional ultra-bright LED lighting for the van’s loadspace.
Engines available for the Transit Courier include a 94bhp 1.6-litre TDCi diesel unit which officially returns 76.3mpg and CO2 emissions of just 97g/km.
Alternatively the Transit Courier can also be fitted with Ford’s multi-award winning 1.0-litre Ecoboost petrol engine. With this unit the new Transit Courier officially returns 54.3mpg and CO2 emissions of 119g/km.
Also available is a 1.5-litre diesel with 74bhp which officially returns 72.4mpg and a CO2 output of 103g/km.
All engines available for the Courier are supported with fuel-saving stop-start engine technology.
The Transit Courier also brings a host of new technology to the compact van segment it occupies. This includes Ford SYNC with Emergency Assistance. This feature has the ability to assist occupants to call the local emergency services operator in the event of an accident.
Hill Start Assist and Traction Control are other safety gadgets standard with the Transit Courier. Other technology onboard includes various speed limiters and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System.
Drivers of the new Ford Transit Courier can also take advantage of the new Device Dock to store, mount and charge their mobile devices such as phones and navigation systems. A rear view camera can also be specified with the Transit Courier for easier parking.
The Ford Transit Courier is available to order now and prices start at £15,546.
