This van succeeds the current Vauxhall Vivaro which has been both high-selling and long-lasting having first launched all the way back in 2001. Like its predecessor, the new Vivaro has been developed in partnership with the French manufacturer Renault, which sells the Trafic van based on the same platform.
For its new-generation van, Vauxhall has given its Vivaro a major overhaul in design to bring it closer in line with its current car range. Featured on the new Vivaro’s exterior is a large, prominent grille, distinctive headlamps with LED daytime running lights and the flowing blade side feature from Vauxhall’s multi-award-winning design language.
The signature Vauxhall blade design flows from under the side mirrors back to the rear wheel-arches. This is a similar design trait to the latest Vauxhall Insignia and Astra GTC models.
There will be just two trim levels for the new Vivaro – standard and ‘Sportive’.
Customers who choose the Sportive trim Vivaro will gain design upgrades for the Vauxhall van. These changes include a body-coloured finish for the bumpers, side mouldings and the side mirrors. The front grille also gains chrome accents when in the Sportive trim.
Body style specifications offered with the new Vauxhall Vivaro will include a basic panel van as well as a Combi passenger van design. Also available will be a double cab model with a second row of seats behind the driver and front passenger seat.
The new Vauxhall Vivaro measures longer than its predecessor, by as much as 216mm, which means extra space for both cargo and passengers.
Engine options for the new Vauxhall Vivaro will include an entry-level 1.6-litre CDTi diesel, delivering outputs of either 89bhp or 113bhp.
Also available will be a 1.6-litre CDTi BiTurbo diesel with more potent outputs of 119bhp or 138bhp. The BiTurbo diesels use two turbochargers to deliver greater performance then a standard diesel, but also improve fuel efficiency. With the turbodiesel the new Vivaro returns a combined fuel consumption of 47mpg.
Vauxhall will present its new Vivaro to the public next month at the 2014 Commercial Vehicle (CV) Show in Birmingham.
Pricing for the new-generation Vauxhall Vivaro will be confirmed closer to its launch date. The current Vivaro starts from £19,303.33.
