Citroen DS3 Cabrio Racing on sale

Production of the new DS3 Cabrio Racing will be restricted to just 100 examples worldwide meaning potential customers will likely have to act fast to get their hands on this stylish motor.

Inspired by its successful DS3 rally car which competes in the World Rally Championship (WRC), Citroen originally created a hard-top DS3 Racing hatchback in a limited production run in 2011.

During 2013 a new Cabrio version of this DS3 Racing was revealed to the public with a view to going on sale.

Now the car is available to order and it uses the same 207bhp 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine found in the original Racing hatchback.

It combines the styling cues of the standard DS3 Cabrio, in its top-level ‘DSport’ trim, plus the more sporty and aggressive attributes of the Racing. New styling features for the DS3 Cabrio Racing therefore include an air diffuser and dual chrome exhaust tailpipes. A real carbon fibre finish is also applied on many parts of the bodywork.

The Citroen DS3 Cabrio Racing is offered in a new Moondark matt grey body colour, teamed with a black roof and 18-inch gloss black wheels. The Carmin Red colour, specific to DS line, is used for the centre wheel caps, carrying the DS logo, as well as for a wide band on the doors.

Inside meanwhile a Citroen Racing signature is found on the backrests of the front seats. Also featured is a numbered identification plate on the gear lever surround which emphasise the exclusive feel of the DS3 Cabrio Racing.

The DS3 Cabrio Racing not only looks sportier and has a more potent engine; it has also been modified for sharper and more precise handling. The front and rear shock absorbers have been adapted to handle the more powerful engine, which has increased the DS3’s torque by around 15 per cent.

The car has also been lowered by 15mm to improve stability and reduce the amount of body roll, particularly through sharp turns.

Like the DSport trim which it’s based on, standard equipment for the Citroen DS3 Cabrio Racing includes automatic air conditioning, rear parking sensors and LED daytime running lights.

The DS3 Cabrio Racing’s turbo engine allows the sporty convertible to go from a standstill to 62mph in just 6.5 seconds, while the top speed is 145mph.
