Five Land Rover Freelander 2 SUVs are being loaned to rural projects across the UK as part of this scheme.
The scheme represents a three-year partnership between Land Rover and The Prince’s Countryside Fund first announced by HRH Prince of Wales last year. It offers bursary help and the use of a Freelander 2 for a year to five individuals or groups who can demonstrate that it would enable them to support their rural community.
Individuals or countryside businesses from across the UK are being invited now to apply online.
The successful candidates are those who exude community spirit and exhibit a genuine need for a Freelander 2. They are also the most likely to use the bursary to make a long-term, positive difference to the community around them.
Last year five successful candidates were loaned a Land Rover Freelander 2 to support their causes for the rural community.
One of last year’s successful candidates for the Land Rover Bursary, Sian Curley, has said: "I would encourage anyone thinking about entering the 2014 Land Rover Bursary to do it.
"The bursary has been a real help to my community and the Freelander 2 has proved an excellent workhorse. The application process was straight forward and both Land Rover and The Prince’s Countryside Fund have been excellent throughout the process."
The Marketing Director for Land Rover UK, Lauren Schwab, commented: "We are delighted to demonstrate our on-going commitment to the bursary and look forward to making a dramatic difference to more worthy projects.
"The Freelander 2 has always provided reliable and dependable transportation for those in the countryside and rural communities, and we are excited at the prospect of being able to offer the vehicle to more projects in 2014."
The Freelander 2 SUV, along with the rest of the Land Rover range, is the natural choice for those who live and work in the countryside. Land Rover’s latest range delivers true capability and versatility to tackle all weathers and terrains.
Pricing for the Land Rover Freelander 2 currently starts at £23,705. The SUV features a sophisticated four-wheel drive powertrain complete with a 2.2-litre turbodiesel with outputs of either 148bhp or 188bhp.
Standard equipment for the Land Rover Freelander 2 includes air conditioning, electric windows and alloy wheels. The Freelander can officially return up to 50mpg and CO2 emissions are from just 158g/km.
