Jaguar’s sleek new model was admired on the red carpet by British sports stars such as Chris Froome, Dame Kelly Holmes, Adam Gemili, Sir David Brailsford and Denise Lewis.
Sir David Brailsford, who is an Ambassador for the Jaguar Academy of Sport, commented: "I’ve always had a fantastic experience with Jaguar, and the support they provide to Team Sky is totally invaluable. The F-TYPE Coupé looks incredible here on the red carpet tonight."
In the award ceremony, Scottish tennis star Andy Murray scooped two titles, including ‘jump off the sofa moment’ winner and most inspirational sporting performance of the year for winning Wimbledon 2013.
Murray was unable to attend the event, which was held at the Royal Opera House, London, and hosted by George Lamb and Natalie Pinkham. He did, however, send a video message, in which he spoke about how the award was "a big honour".
British sporting legend and Academy Patron Sir Steve Redgrave also picked up a prestigious award for his contribution to sports in Britain. Redgrave’s honour was the Jaguar Academy of Sport Patrons Award for Sporting Legacy.
Redgrave added: "It’s not only an honour to receive this award but also to be part of the Jaguar Academy of Sport. The Rising Stars are such an inspiration!"
The Royal Opera House may have been packed with sporting royalty and newcomers alike, but none were quite as exquisite as Jaguar’s new F-TYPE Coupe.
First revealed at this year’s LA Motor Show, Jaguar’s new sports car will be available in three versions: F-TYPE Coupe, F-TYPE S Coupe and F-TYPE R Coupe.
The entry-level Jaguar F-TYPE Coupe comes fitted with a 335bhp 3.0-litre supercharged V6 engine, which powers the new model to a benchmark sprint time of 5.1 seconds.
The mid-range F-TYPE S Coupe features the same engine albeit with more power, in the form of 375bhp, while the range-topping version is loaded with a monstrous 542bhp 5.0-litre V8 supercharged powerplant.
With the Jaguar F-TYPE scooping numerous awards in its first year, there is no doubt that the F-TYPE Coupe will be a welcome addition to the Big Cat’s line-up.
We’re sure that all of the sports stars at the recent award ceremony will have wanted to get their hands on Jaguar’s new coupe.
