By the morning of Monday 11th November 2013, a total of 38,871 new SEAT models were registered in dealerships throughout the UK. This surpassed the 38,798 tally that the company posted in 2012 – which itself was a record-breaking year.
The new sales figures mean that SEAT can already announce its best year ever in the UK, and its fifth consecutive annual sales improvement, even though there is still weeks left in the year.
SEAT’s fantastic year did not just hinge on this new record though, as the company has this year broken its monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and now annual sales records.
So far in 2013, September has been SEAT’s best ever month with 8,498 new car registrations. This topped off the company’s best ever quarter (July – September 2013), which had followed its best ever half year (January – June 2013).
October 2013 was also a landmark month for the automaker, with a total of 2,903 new SEAT model registrations in UK dealerships cementing the month as SEAT’s best October of all-time. When compared to October 2012, last month’s retail sales alone were up by 34 per cent.
SEAT UK Director Neil Williamson commented: "In a competitive marketplace it’s a testament to both the quality of our cars and the effort of our dealerships that we’ve broken our annual sales record already. A brilliant team effort."
He continued: "What’s most pleasing is that we’ve achieved much of this success in the showrooms: our year-to-date retail sales have gone up by almost a third. We’ve put a lot of focus on getting happy customers into great cars via an outstanding dealership experience."
SEAT’s popular Leon model, which currently holds Auto Express’ ‘Car of the Year’ title, is now available in three guises: five-door hatchback, three-door SC and ST estate.
The company’s model line-up includes the Ibiza supermini, Mii city car, Altea and Altea XL MPVs, Alhambra people carrier and new Toledo, in addition to the award-winning Leon.
Along with winning the aforementioned Auto Express ‘Car of the Year’ award, the SEAT Leon has also scooped What Car? magazine’s ‘best supermini less than £16,000’ in 2013, while the company’s Alhambra MPV took What Car?’s ‘Best MPV’ title this year.
