Renault Kangoo ZE retains electric GreenFleet award

The Kangoo Van ZE, which was also voted International Van of the Year in 2012, collected its latest honour at a ceremony held at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium in London.

This year’s judging panel for the annual GreenFleet Awards was full of praise for the Renault Kangoo Van ZE.

A member of the awards judging panel, GreenFleet’s Colin Boyton, commented: "As well as winning last year’s Electric Vehicle of the Year award from GreenFleet, it scooped ‘Ecovan of the Year’ and ‘International Van of the Year’ accolades. It is more than a worthy winner again."

The Renault Kangoo Van ZE is the best-selling small electric van across Europe, having sold over 11,000 units.

Renault first launched the Kangoo Van ZE to the UK back in autumn 2011 and since then the eco-friendly commercial vehicle has received a lot of plaudits.

Back in June this year, the zero-emission van was given a refresh in styling and it now bears the latest Renault styling identity. This identity is already present on Renault cars including the latest Clio and Megane.

Earlier this year Renault also refreshed the interior of the Kangoo Van ZE. A new function was also introduced which now allows owners to programme the van’s battery to charge remotely using their computer or smartphone.

Using the ‘My ZE inter@ctive pack’, Kangoo Van ZE owners can take greater advantage of opportunities to recharge during the off-peak electricity rates.

The electric motor in the Renault Kangoo Van ZE offers an output of 59bhp and a projected travel range of 125 miles. It also has the same 650kg load capacity as the non-electric Kangoo van.

Standard driving features on the Kangoo ZE include enhanced electronic stability programme combined with Hill Start Assist.

Pricing for the Renault Kangoo Van ZE currently starts at £12,995 after the Government Plug-in grant.
