Amazing classic cars hit Carfest South

A huge crowd of motoring fans in the UK will be enjoying the sights and sounds of classic race cars and live music performances, all at CarFest South which starts today.

Hosted in Laverstoke Park Farm near Basingstoke in Hampshire, CarFest South encourages visiting families to get a close look at some rare and amazing vehicles from the past. There’s also plenty of on-stage music action featuring many well known acts. Also revelling with guests will be BBC Radio 2 DJ and petrolhead Chris Evans.

The three-day event follows the successful running of CarFest North, which took place earlier this month at Oulton Park in Cheshire. Both CarFest events have been created to raise funds for the BBC Children of Need charity.

The CarFest events combined are set to raise £1 million for the Charity, by the time things come to a close at Laverstoke on Sunday.

Some of the stunning motors which are featuring at CarFest South this year include the six-wheeled Tyrrell P34 F1 car. This extraordinary race car will be driven at the event by the 1979 Formula One champion Jody Scheckter, who took the Tyrrell to race victory back in the 1976 Swedish Grand Prix.

The CarFest host Chris Evans has also taken seven of his finest Ferraris to the motoring event. Other fantastic cars to watch out for at CarFest South this weekend includes the Mercedes-Benz W196R, a car driven by five-times F1 champion Juan Manual Fangio.

Bringing more entertainment at CarFest South over this weekend will be music acts including Keane, Amy Macdonald, Scouting for Girls and Jools Holland.

Shifting the focus back to cars, this year’s CarFest South will also feature a spectacular vehicle parade. Those heading this will include three-times F1 champion Jackie Stewart and the Aston Martin CEO Dr Ulrich Bez.

Motoring fans at Laverstoke Park Farm this weekend will have plenty to look and listen out for this weekend.

New and used cars are available for test driving and purchase now at Perrys Dealerships nationwide.
