But as manufacturers become more and more daring with its designs, there are a plethora of new models on the way from all different areas of the market – ranging from new saloons to new compact crossovers.

Although style hasn’t necessarily been the dominant criteria for new cars, the rising sophistication of in-car technology has made aesthetics more important than ever.

Below we have collated some of the most exciting models set to challenge the lucrative car market throughout the second half of 2013 and moving towards 2014. All of these models mentioned will become available at Perrys Dealerships nationwide.

Renault Captur

The Renault Captur is yet another compact crossover model to enter the new car market.

The Renault Captur is much like many of its crossover competitors as it combines the style and practicality of a smaller sibling – in this case it is the Renault Clio supermini.

The influence of the Clio is clearly evident with the Captur’s exterior design as it incorporates the new Renault flair with chiselled flanks and the large diamond logo branded on the front-end.

In terms of engines the new Renault Captur comes available with an efficient 1.5-litre diesel that emits CO2 emissions of just 96g/km.

Nissan Micra

As the Nissan Micra is a few years into its fourth generation model, Nissan has decided to give the model a refresh.

The new facelifted Nissan Micra offers a much sportier appeal than the current model as it takes on a similar guise top that of the Nissan Juke SUV crossover – with a beefier front and rear grill being just some of its stylish highlights.

But as well as excelling in exterior aesthetics, the new Micra also gets a plethora of new media equipment to help it compete against the growing small car market.

The Micra’s new NissanConnect sat nav system is one of the models highlights as it offers all the benefits of a usual satnav as well as a few other unique features.

These include Google Send-To-Car technology, allowing you to plan your satnav route from home, and Eco-routing – a feature that can plan out the most economical route for you to drive.

To give it an extra boost in appeal, Nissan has also made the new Micra more customisable with two new body paints and the ability for customers to specify door mirror, gear stick and wheel cap colour.

Alfa Romeo 4C

The Alfa Romeo 4C was first thought of as the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione supercar at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show.

The 4C mid-engine supercar has won a number of awards for its innovative design. Much like the Mazda6 model and its Kodo body language, the Alfa Romeo 4C is set to carry almost its entire concept styling through to production.

This engine is mated to a twin clutch automatic gearbox with flappy paddles mounted behind the steering wheel race-car like gear changes.

Upon release, the Alfa Romeo 4C will offer stiff competition to the door coupe market with both power and original styling.

Kia Pro_cee’d GT

Ford Mondeo

The Mondeo is one of the world’s most popular saloons and now Ford is revamping the model to compete in the new car market.

As with many another saloons like the Vauxhall Insignia, the new Ford Mondeo matches luxury, practicality and style.

At a glance it is clear that the new Mondeo has a new front-end design, similar to that of its much smaller Ford Fiesta sibling – with prominent creases on its bonnet and an Aston Martin-esque trapezoidal grille.
