Ford takes a large haul at 2013 van awards ceremony

The Ford Transit Custom also picked up two other awards at this year’s A2Z ceremony, including Best Small Panel Van and the category for Best Innovation.

The editor of the A2Z website, Neil McIntee, commented: “We’re delighted to award the Transit Custom Best Small Panel Van and the overall Van of the Year accolade. Ford has raised the bar to new heights with the introduction of Transit Custom. In terms of dynamics, refinement, safety and clever, functional design features, it is untouchable”.

Meanwhile the current standard Ford Transit range also collected an award from A2Z, by winning the Best Minibus category.

The Ford Fiesta Van won the title for Best Small Van and the Ford Ranger came out on top for the award titled Highly Recommended Pick-up.

But it is ultimately the new Ford Transit Custom which is the biggest star of all this year’s A2Z awards. The Ford Transit Custom previously claimed the International Van of the Year title for 2013, when it was launched last year. The van has gone on to sell more than 1,100 units in the UK market since November 2012.

The Ford Transit Custom, currently priced from £18,316, offers 6.8 cubic metres of load space in the long wheelbase (L2) form. The more compact short wheelbase version (L1) still offers six cubic metres of load space.

The new 2013 Ford Transit Custom is offered with a 2.2-litre Duratorq TDCi diesel engine with three outputs; 100PS, 125PS and 155PS.

The modern van range uses eco-friendly technology such as an automatic stop-start engine feature, which will turn off the engine while the van is idle in traffic to save fuel before it can be quickly restarted again with the clutch pedal.

Features such as this allow all models in the Transit Custom range to meet strict Euro V emissions standards.

Commercial vehicle operators interested in a Ford Transit Custom can place an order for one now at Perrys Ford Dealerships found in Aylesbury and High Wycombe.
