Five stars from Euro NCAP for the Renault Zoe

The Renault Zoe is currently an attendant at this week’s 2013 Geneva Motor Show and is also one of three finalists in contention for this year’s prestigious World Green Car of the year award. The new five-door supermini model, which shares the same platform as the new Renault Clio, is set to go on sale in markets across Europe by spring 2013.

In its recent Euro NCAP crash test programme, the Renault Zoe received an overall score of 82 per cent, performing well in all of the safety body’s four key categories.

The Zoe performed particularly impressive in the Adult Occupant category, taking a score of 89 per cent in this area.

Front occupants of the Zoe are protected by two high-efficiency airbags, as well as seat cushion airbags, along with seat belts equipped with pretensioners and load limiters.

At the rear, all seats are equipped three three-point seat belts, plus load limiters for the two outer seats.

In the Child Occupant category the Zoe scored as highly as 80 per cent. The electric Renault achieved this rating thanks to the overall design of its structure and the availability of three-point Isofix child seat anchorage for the front passenger seat and outer rear seats.

The Renault Zoe also scored 66 per cent in the Pedestrian safety category meanwhile. The electric hatchback benefits from a featured system that provides an audible warning of its approach. The sound emitted was developed in association with organisations for blind and visually-impaired people.

The Renault Zoe also took 85 per cent in the Safety Assist category alone. Driving features including anti-lock brakes and electronic stability are provided standard for the Renault Zoe. An emergency brake assit is also integrated into the electronic control powertrain.

The Renault Zoe will start from £13,650 when it reaches UK showrooms later this year. The hatchback uses an 88bhp electric motor to deliver a projected travel range of 130 miles and a driving experience where zero CO2 emissions are emitted. This means the Zoe customers will benefit from exemption on paid Road Tax.

UK motorists can order a Renault Zoe now from Perrys Renault Dealership found in Aylesbury.
