Peugeot 208 set to lead '13' plate sales rush

Launched during the summer of 2012, the Peugeot 208 has already achieved the largest intake of orders for a launch car in Peugeot’s long history.

The Peugeot 208 has carried its strong sales performance over to early 2013, with statistics from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Trading (SMMT) showing the hatchback was the seventh best selling new car in the UK market for the month of January this year, with 2,959 registrations.

Now an estimated 300,000 examples of the Peugeot 208 have been produced in the factories, and the supermini has now received over 28,000 orders in total for the UK alone.

Not only has it performed strongly in the markets, the Peugeot 208 is aiming to prolong its sales record with the arrival of new specifications which will arrive in the UK in time for the switch to the ’13’ licence plate.

The latest new edition to join the 208 is the Intuitive specification, which will be followed later this year by luxurious and performance models in the form of the new 208 XY and the eagerly awaited 208 GTi hot hatch.

The new Peugeot 208 Intuitive features a Park Assist system as standard. With the press of a button, it can measure and guide the driver into a parking space, taking control of the steering to accomplish a perfect manoeuvre, warning the driver to any likely incidents too.

The Intuitive is on sale now in Britain with three engine variants are offered with the 208 Intuitive, including the 70bhp 1.4-litre HDI diesel, the 82bhp 1.2-litre VTi petrol unit and a 92bhp 1.6-litre e-HDi diesel.

The XY and GTi hot hatch versions of the 208 will be available to order from 1 March 2013, and placed in showrooms starting from 18 April 2013. Peugeot will consider their arrival good timing as the month of March is often the busiest for new car registrations in the UK.

The current Peugeot 208 range is available to order now in the UK from Perrys Peugeot Dealerships found in Aylesbury, Blackburn, Bolton, Milton Keynes, Nelson and Portsmouth.
