Citroen Technospace Concept hints new family car

The brand new Citroen family MPV production model, which will be based on the Technospace concept, is scheduled to go on sale during the second half of 2013.

Citroen have not released many details yet, such as what engine the Technospace uses, but it does reveal that with the assistance of Citroen’s ‘Creative Technologie’, the concept emits only 98g/km in CO2 and could well be the lightest MPV from the manufacturer.

The exterior of the Technospace carries an expressive design with dynamic lines and high-tech headlamps complemented by 3D-effect tail lights inspired by other recent Citroen concept cars.

Inside the Technospace’s cabin sports multiple technological features including for greater comfort, including a full-touch driving interface with a high-definition 12” panoramic screen.

Citroen’s current family MPV range includes the tightly packaged Citroen C3 Picasso and the larger Citroen C4 Picasso. The latter is available in both a five-door specification and as a seven-door model called the Citroen C4 Grand Picasso.

These two models are currently available in the UK market now with prices starting from £13,200 for the C3 and £17,950 for the C4 model.

Both of these family MPVs are being kept updated for the current market. A refreshed version of the Citroen C3 Picasso was launched to the UK back during as recently as December 2012.

The new C3 Picasso comes with the latest Citroen chevrons and a brand new front bumper. VTR+ and Exclusive models will also get LED daytime running lights. New body colours available on the C3 Picasso are Ink Blue and Pearlescent White.

The Citroen C3 Picasso’s Automatic Pack option now includes a stunning electro-chrome rear-view mirror, while standard VT versions are also available with new 15-inch Asterodea wheel covers.

The Citroen C4 Picasso range is expected to get a major refresh around the middle of 2013.

The new C4 Picasso will reportedly share the same build platform as other Citroen models including the C4 hatchback and the DS4. It’s also been reported that the majority of the Picasso’s interior features are to be carried over to the new Citroen MPV model, which the Technospace concept hints at to begin with.

Citroen’s current offerings for family MPVs are available right now from Perrys Citroen Dealerships located in Barnsley, Huddersfield and Milton Keynes.
