Last year, in the 30 European markets monitored by automotive data intelligence provider JATO Dynamics, Ford managed to sell 953,174 cars overall, with the Fiesta contributing 306,405 units sold of the total – which is just under a third of Ford’s overall European sales for their entire range.
Ford also recently announced it managed to shift 1.4 million Ford vehicles, in 2012, across all of the 51 European markets in which it operates.
The Ford Fiesta has been the overall best-sold car in the UK every year since 2009 and managed to follow that record into 2012, with almost 110,000 models sold on our shores. This significant amount of sales confirmed the Fiestas position as the nation’s most popular car since 2009.
With the arrival of the new Ford Fiesta imminent, Ford’s 530 UK dealers had set aside yesterday, January 24th, as ‘Fiesta Day’, in order to help manage the unprecedented levels of interest in the new model.
The vice president of Marketing, Sales and Service for Ford of Europe, Roelant de Waard, commented that ‘the Fiesta had a fantastic 2012 in the UK, Europe and across the world.’
He further added: ‘This iconic car has come to define what customers desire from a small car – style, quality, efficiency and great technology.’
