Vauxhall Ampera grabs 2013 Business Car award

The Ampera Extended-Range Electric Vehicle (E-REV) was selected ahead of other potential candidates by readers of Business Car magazine. They opted to recognise the Vauxhall Ampera as the best product for business when it came to choosing a green car.

The Editor of Business Car magazine, Paul Barker, commented: “The Vauxhall Ampera is a genuinely revolutionary piece of technological development, and it’s no surprise that the readers of Business Car chose it as their Green Model of the Year,”

“In the right usage pattern, the Ampera can make a massive difference to a driver’s fuel bills, and with the company car tax and National Insurance benefits of such an ultra-low emission vehicle, it’s clear to see why it’s a winner.”

First launched to the UK market during early 2012, the Vauxhall Ampera combines an electric motor with a small but effective 1.4-litre petrol engine. Together they give the Ampera a combined output of 150bhp and a projected fuel economy of 235.4mpg, plus a travel range of 300-plus miles including 25-50 miles on electric power alone.

The electric motor can be recharged either gradually over time by the petrol engine or with a mains 240V charge plug, the latter method should fully recharge the Ampera in about six hours.

Since it first launched, the Vauxhall Ampera has gone on to be named the official European Car of the Year in 2012, and has previously been named Green Car of the Year by both What Car? magazine and Top Gear magazine.

The Vauxhall Ampera is available now from specialist dealerships in the UK, and currently starts pricing at £29,995, when including the Government’s Plug-in Car Grant worth £5,000.

Potential UK customers can currently access the Ampera’s Love It or Return It offer, whereby if purchasers find that within the first 30 days or 1,500 miles of ownership the Ampera isn’t right for them after all, they can simply return it to Vauxhall.

The Vauxhall Ampera is also offered on the 3-Day Test Drive programme through which customers can test a Vauxhall for three days, without paying a penny more than the fuel used.

Britain’s motorists can look for a new and used Vauxhall Ampera now from Perrys Vauxhall Dealerships based nationwide.
