The new and classic Range Rover on display at Perrys

Now alongside the luxurious new SUV, Britain’s motorists can make a direct comparison to its earliest predecessor, as Perrys also has an original first-generation Range Rover on display right next to the new one.

The first-generation Range Rover on show from Perry’s is particularly unique however, as it is in fact the very first Range Rover ever produced.

The historic SUV, which has a chassis number simply designated one, was first registered all the way back in 1970 when the original Range Rover’s production started.

Originally this historic Range Rover was owned by Michael Forlong, a video producer who worked on the earliest Range Rover promotion films.

The SUV then changed hands to different owners on two occasions, before the first Range Rover underwent a total restoration project to return back to its original condition.

The results of this detailed restoration project can still get viewed in all its glory by those who visit Perrys Land Rover Dealership in Huddersfield.

Whilst the original Range Rover has no doubt become an important and popular icon in the motoring industry, the newest fourth-generation model marks a major step forward in potential, in regards both luxury and performance.

Even basic-level trim version of the new Range Rover make the 4×4 one of the best premium SUVs on the market today, as well as even one of the best luxury cars all-round.

The new Range Rover has had a design overhaul for its latest iteration with a sleek, more aerodynamic front end, interior revamp and more luxury equipment.

Engines include a range-topping 502bhp supercharged V8 petrol and two more frugal diesels; a 254bhp 3.0-litre diesel TDV8 and a 334bhp 4.4-litre diesel V8.

The latter offers a 22 per cent reduction in fuel consumption at 37.7mpg and just 196g/km of CO2 emissions. For motorist looking for an even more efficient drive, a hybrid model with CO2 emission at just 169g/km is planned for 2013.

The new Range Rover’s equipment list includes satellite navigation, climate control and cruise control.

The 2013 Range Rover will start pricing for UK customers at £71,295. You can order one right now from either the Perrys Land Rover Huddersfield Dealership, or alternatively the other Perrys Land Rover Dealership based in Halifax.
