The Spanish manufacturer has ordered 2,200kg of food and 250 toys to be given to the Red Cross Solidarity campaign, alongside an additional financial contribution to the charity.
The food and toy collection campaign has been designed to help prevent social exclusion and poverty. Seat has also revealed its slogan for the campaign: ‘We are SEAT, we show Solidarity’. 14,000 members of staff at Seat have been encouraged to take part.
Employees could hand their contributions to collection points provided by Seat at the manufacturer’s production facilities in Martorell, Barcelona’s Zona Franca and Prat de Llobregat, as well as its Madrid offices.
Contributions so far have included non-perishable foods such as rice, pasta, oil, pulses and more. A number of new, educational toys have also been donated.
SEAT President James Muir praised his workforce’s contributions: “At SEAT we are committed to tackling social problems, particularly concerning those people most affected by the economic crisis.
“Every contribution, no matter how modest, is of great help, and shows the involvement and solidarity of everyone in pulling through the difficult times we are living in.”
Spanish Red Cross Vice-President Manuela Cabero Morán says the Red Cross’s priority is, “to attend to those people who are in a situation of extreme vulnerability, such as families where all members are unemployed, or children living in poor households.”
She also adds, “We have launched a special appeal aimed at reinforcing our capacity to respond to an increasing number of persons who find themselves in these circumstances.”
Seat has also announced that the Seat Toledo will also be used as a celebrity chauffeur car for the Marie Curie Christmas fundraiser.
