Ford has a 140-strong fleet of Ranger and Transit vehicles on the roads to keep the UK moving this winter with grit.
Gritting and snow clearance company GIRTIT works exclusively with Ford’s premier vans and vehicles to distribute grit. The company has used nothing but Ford models since 2009, and has recently invested in 40 Ford Ranger trucks to help combat this winter’s weather.
GRITIT also invested in 30 previous-gen Rangers in 2011, and also operates more than 70 Transit and chassis cab vehicles.
GRITIT currently has 92 depots across the UK, and provides more than 100,000 services in an average winter. GRITIT attributes their use of Ford models not just for their quality, but because of the excellent aftersales care the company receives.
Nikki Singh-Barmi, GRITIT’s managing director, commented: “Ford’s vehicles provide excellent reliability which is essential for our business.
“GRITIT operators visit retail, commercial, industrial, logistics, and health sector premises, demanding the upmost in versatility. Ford’s highly manoeuvrable, four-wheel drive Ranger provides exactly what we need.”
The Ford Ranger has recently been named Commercial Vehicle of the Year at the 2013 Fleet Van Awards, and was also named Pick-up of the Year. The new Ford Transit Custom has also been named International Van of the Year 2013.
Both models will be especially useful to companies like GRITIT this year thanks to their phenomenal load-carrying capability and efficient engine options.
Perrys is also offering winter advice to people this coming winter, advising them to look after their car with the Met Office confirming the weather will be especially cold this year. Tips include being vigilant with the car’s battery and leaving more time for journeys.
