Featuring new and more modern styling and extra practicality thanks to a larger boot, the Kuga looks set to become a very serious contender indeed in the crowded crossover vehicle market.
To top this all of, the starting price for the new Ford Kuga is nearly £1,000 less compared to that for the current SUV’s range.
Four engines will be offered for the 2013 Kuga range, including a 1.6-litre EcoBoost petrol unit delivering either 148bhp or 178bhp and a 2.0-litre TDCi Duratorq offering 138bhp or 161bhp.
Each engine is connected to a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, although a Powershift automatic transmission is available optionally on four-wheel drive diesel specifications.
The most eco-friendly set-up for the new Kuga is the front-wheel drive manually-driven model with the 138bhp diesel; it emits just 139g/km in CO2.
The 2013 Ford Kuga will be sold in three trim levels, starting with Zetec and followed by Titanium and Titanium X.
Standard equipment customers will find on the basic Zetec trim will include fold-flat seats, cruise control and Ford’s SYNC assist with audible text and emergency assist.
The Kuga is inundated with a list of safety gadgets including Hill Start Assist, and a sensor-based blind spot checker which works in conjunction with an Active Parking Assist for parallel parking manoeuvres.
