Mazda has calculated running costs for its flagship saloon and insists the Mazda6 offers the best performance at the lowest prices.
The brand’s new Skyactiv engine technology, first introduced to the Mazda CX-5 SUV earlier this year, has significantly lowered running costs for business buyers.
For example, the Mazda6 2.2-litre diesel delivers 147bhp compared to 113bhp from a 1.6-litre Mondeo and 103bhp from a 1.6-litre Passat.
However, the Mazda6 is also the most frugal of all three cars with fuel economy of 67.3mpg compared to 65.7mpg for both rivals.
CO2 emissions are also lowers at 108g/km of CO2 – or Band B of UK road tax – compared to 114g/km for its two rivals, which fall into the higher Band C.
Business customers will benefit from slightly lowered Benefit-In-Kind (BIK) tax payments with the Mazda6 as well as the brand targets the executive segment in 2013.
The Mazda6 is one of the more attractive large family cars on the market today. Designed using the brand’s new ‘Kodo’ design language it features sweeping lines influenced, says Mazda, by nature.
The new Mazda6 is also packed with technology; the most popular business model, the SE Nav, comes with a 5.8-inch touch screen, satellite navigation, cruise control, air conditioning and Bluetooth.
Other features include 17-inch alloy wheels, traction control and dynamic stability control as standard for the five-star safety-rated car.
Mazda Head of Fleet Steve Tomlinson said: “The all-new Mazda6 is the no compromise choice for company car drivers. They can have power, performance and driving fun with low emissions and excellent fuel economy due to our Skyactiv technology.
“That cannot be obtained from rival manufacturers who have resorted to smaller engine displacements in pursuit of emission and fuel economy improvements.”
The new Mazda6 is on sale now from Perrys Mazda dealerships. Mazda6 prices start from £19,500.
