The jury for this award included the highly popular Europen car magazines and its viewership base of reportedly 73 million readers, as well as a panel of famous drivers and celebrities including Franz Beckenbauer and Boris Becker.
This year Golden Steering Wheel awards are the 44th to be hosted by the German magazines, and included six categories. For the small car award Renault was deemed the winners, taking this particular category for the tenth time in its history thanks to the next upcoming Clio.
The stylish new five-door supermini will renew its rivalries with the biggest competitors on the market, which include the likes of the Vauxhall Corsa and the Ford Fiesta.
The 2013 Renault Clio will start pricing at a competitive £10,595, and ranges up to £16,095. This pricing does not include the 200bhp RenaultSport hot hatch specification however. The price for that particular model will be revealed in February 2013, before it eventually launches during the summer that year.
Four trim levels will be sold for the regular Renault Clio hatchback, starting with the basic Expression trim. Further up the range are other trims including Expression+, Dynamique MediaNav, and finally Dynamique S MediaNav.
Engine options will include a standard 75bhp 1.2-litre petrol engine, plus two frugal 0.9-litre units, one petrol-powered the other diesel run.
