Jaguar F-Type orders hit 2,000

Such is the clamour over the spiritual E-Type successor, which was revealed in September at the Paris Motor Show, Jaguar has received a fifth of its yearly sales target in pre-orders before it arrives in UK roads.

The £60,000 convertible will sit below the Jaguar XK in the brand’s luxury car line up and is set to arrive at Perrys Jaguar of Huddersfield early in 2013.

It comes with a soft-top roof that can open in just 12 seconds at speeds of up to 30mph and uses a rear spoiler that can be deployed when extra downforce is needed.

The stunning sports car comes with a choice of three engine options. The £60,000 F-Type is fitted with a 3.0-litre V6 delivering one of two power outputs; 335bhp or 375bhp.

At the top of the range, a 5.0-litre V8 engine develops 488bhp and delivers a 0-60mph sprint time of just 4.3 seconds. It can go on to hit 186mph and is the fastest and most powerful car in the Jaguar F-Type line up.

Initially available in convertible body style only, the new 2013 Jaguar F-Type is seen by many as a successor to the famous E-Type which was launched 50 years ago and was once described as the most beautiful car in the world by Enzo Ferrari.

Jaguar has seen a renaissance in recent months with the introduction of the executive XF saloon and the luxury XJ saloon but its return to its sports car roots has excited fans of the brand.

The Big Cat is expecting the F-Type to be a strong seller in the UK and initial interest indicates it will be a huge success.

The new Jaguar F-Type is available to pre-order now from Perrys Jaguar of Huddersfield.
