With prices starting from £29,995, the new Insignia VXR SuperSport achieves 15mph more than its predecessor, able to reach 170mph. The car costs £3,760 less than the outgoing model.
Vauxhall claims that the SuperSport is able to achieve a faster top speed and produces more power than any other sub-£30k production car in the United Kingdom.
The car comes without a speed limiter, allowing the car to reach its true performance potential on the road.
The new Insignia will also come with an all-wheel-drive chassis to complement its power, while its HiPerStrunt front suspension gives the car incredible grip in all conditions. Fitted as standard, FlexRide is an adaptive damping system which gives phenomenal control at higher speeds.
The Insignia VXR SuperSport comes with a 2.8-litre V6 Turbo ECOTEC engine and produces 325PS, and includes features typically found in a race car engine. The new Insignia will be able to go from 0-62mph in 5.6 seconds.
The car’s exterior features design quirks such as blue ‘Brembo’ lettering on its front brake callipers and new increments on the speedometer.
The car is eligible for Vauxhall’s impressive Lifetime Warranty package. The manufacturer says the new Insignia continues a tradition of fast Vauxhalls, which started with the company’s iconic 30-98 model in the 1920s.
The current-generation Vauxhall Insignia hatchback is available from £18,040 and first appeared in the UK in 2008. Critics have praised the car for its style, speed and the range of hi-tech gadgets on offer.
