The new ECOnetic is available to order now, with deliveries starting from early 2013.
Ford says that the Ford Transit Custom ECOnetic 1-Tonne will offer 47.1mpg, with CO2 emissions from 159g/km when fitted with the optional 62mph speed limiter. Without, the ECOnetic delivers fuel economy from 45.6mpg and CO2 emissions from 163g/km.
The Transit Custom ECOnetic has recently been named International Van of the Year 2013 thanks to its frugal nature and standard features including acceleration control.
Acceleration control limits acceleration levels when the van is fully-laden, to provide phenomenal fuel savings when it’s part-laden or empty.
The Ford Custom Van ECOnetic is powered by a 100PS 2.2-litre Duratorq diesel engine, and comes with Auto-Start-Stop features.
The new ECOnetic 1-Tonne van will be available in short or long wheelbase forms. The 1-Tonne will also be available in three gross vehicle weight options.
Emissions can also be reduced thanks to the van’s additional fuel-saving features. A coolant bypass valve offers drivers a quicker warm-up, for instance, while low-rolling resistance tyres and aerodynamic wheel trims help reduce drag.
“Transit Custom already delivers great fuel economy and the new ECOnetic model pushes the bar higher, into the realm of the family car,” said Barb Samardzich, vice president Product Development, Ford of Europe.
“The Transit Custom ECOnetic is packed with advanced fuel-saving technologies that help businesses keep running costs to a minimum and reduce their carbon footprint.”
A new Ford Transit Custom van is available from £18,316 OTR. People interested in buying a Ford Transit Custom van can contact Perrys Ford dealerships.
