Ford Fiesta Van is greenest van of 2012

The compact van, based on the Ford Fiesta car, is the Green Van of the Year at the British Insurance Vehicle Security Awards (BISVA), run by Thatcham.

The van was named the greenest, most secure van available on the market today by judges, who praised its green technology.

This includes low rolling resistance tyres and lowered suspension to improve aerodynamics and the use of a specially-designed 1.6-litre diesel engine.

The Ford Fiesta Van delivers 87g/km of CO2 emissions and 85.6mpg, making it one of the most frugal and affordable van in the UK.

The Ford Fiesta Van is one of the UK’s best small vans because it brings together affordable running costs, car-like driving ability and compact dimensions to the city van market.

Anthony Ireson, Ford Britain marketing director, said: “We are once again thrilled that Britain’s best-selling small van, the Fiesta Van, has maintained its position at the top of the ‘Green’ class. With the new Fiesta Van available in showrooms from early 2013, offering further driver assistance technologies and safety features, we hope to continue our award’s success next year.”

The Ford Fiesta Van offers up to one cubic metre of load space in its versatile rear end and can carry up to 513kg.

The van comes with an array of safety systems including a rigid safety cell to absorb the impact of a collision, whiplash-reducing seat systems and a Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) immobiliser.

The Ford Fiesta Van also comes with Ford’s Easyfuel system, which prevents the wrong type of fuel being used in the Fiesta Van and helps drivers avoid costly repairs.

The new Ford Fiesta Van is on sale now at Perrys Ford dealerships. Ford Fiesta Van prices start from £10,800 before VAT.
