The car was also named the bet used supermini of the year. Ford also won a number of other awards for its models – the Ford Mondeo was named buest usded family car while the S-Max was named as best used MPV.
As well as experts from What Car?, the awards were judged by Warranty Direct, CDL Ltd. and many others from around the auto industry. Winners were decided on categories such as desirability, running costs, reliability, safety features and more.
What Car? editor-in-chief Chas Hallett said: “The Fiesta is a fantastic used car. It’s stylish, refined, safe and great to drive. It’s also reliable and cheap to run, and you can buy a three-year-old example for a little over £6000, so it’s a lot of talented car for the cash.”
The Ford Fiesta has also recently won another award, being one of only two manufacturers to win multiple class categories in the recently published Sunday Times’ Top 100 Cars feature.
The 1.25-litre 82PS Fiesta was ranked as the number one car in the supermini class, while the S-Max also came top in the MPV category.
“The Ford Fiesta is easily the most attractive car in its class and is fantastic to drive,” commented The Sunday Times.
The Ford Fiesta is this year’s best-selling car according to official industry figures. A new variant of the Fiesta will be available to buy from early 2013, priced from £9,795. The new Fiesta will feature six powertrains with sub-100g/km CO2 emissions and a fuel economy of 65.7mpg.
