On all trim levels the Citroen DS5 is available with the Hybrid4 powertrain which combines a 2.0-litre diesel engine with an electric motor to deliver a combined output of 197bhp. This makes it the most powerful version in the DS5 range, as well as the quickest.
The DS5 Hybrid4 can cover the 0-60mph sprint in eight seconds and reach a top speed of 131mph.
At the same time the Hybrid4 is also already the most efficient and cleanest model in the DS5’s line-up.
Official figures show that in the DSign or DStyle trim, the DS5 averages 74mpg on the combined cycle, or 68mpg on the range-topping DSport.
Previously the DS5 also emitted 99g/km on the DSign and DStyle models, which was enough to make the car exempt from paid road tax. The DSport model previously emitted 107g/km.
However in a year when rival companies have revealed their own family cars with even cleaner CO2 outputs, Citroen has responded.
The French manufacturer has made several battery software tweaks to the Hybrid4 powertrain for greater efficiency.
The CO2 output has now been reduced to just 91g/km on the DSign and DStyle trims, or 102g/km for the DSport, very low figures especially considering the size of this premium family car.
The updated, cleaner Citroen DS5 Hybrid4 line-up is available to order now from Perrys Citroen Dealerships found in Barnsley, Huddersfield and Milton Keynes.
