The fourth generation of the Clio was revealed to crowds at the show and was received so well it is expected to be a major rival for the best-selling cars in the UK, the Vauxhall Corsa and the Ford Fiesta.
The new Renault Clio will go on sale early in 2013 and the brand is expecting plenty of demand for the stylish small car after announcing both a hatchback version and an estate.
Longer and wider than previous Clio models, the 2013 Renault Clio uses Renault’s new front end design, which includes an elongated grille and floating badge to create a modern feel to the car.
Everything about the Clio is new including stylish alloy wheels, a lower, sportier ride height and hidden rear door handles in the coupe-like sloping roofline.
The aggressive, upward-sloping headlamps are also new and sit in stark contrast to the narrow, more subtle versions used on the new Renault Zoe electric car.
Elegant and attractive, the new Renault Clio will, according to the brand ‘make you fall in love with Renault Clio… again’ – a nod to the success of previous generations of the popular small car.
According the Renault: “New Clio is all about passion. And thanks to the skills of our engineering teams, it has remained faithful to our original vision”
For the first time Renault has revealed a new estate version of the Clio including a longer bonnet, bulkier back end and larger storage in the boot.
Prices for the new Renault Clio have not been revealed but a starting price of a little over £10,000 would put the car in direct competition with the Ford Fiesta, the UK’s most popular car.
The new Renault Clio will go on sale in Perrys Renault dealerships early in 2013.
