The new Mokka has been a much anticipated release as its original Corsa based SUV styling gives it a unique and compact appeal.
From the outside, the Mokka offers what the market has come to know as ‘mini-SUV’ style, which is essentially a mix of design cues from an SUV and a supermini, which in this case is the popular Vauxhall Corsa.
Although the Mokka is supermini size, it offers a wide range of SUV-like features, including a wide engine range, extensive trim levels and four-wheel-drive availability.
From launch the Mokka will offer three different engines, two petrols and a diesel. The petrol variants include a 1.6-litre (113bhp) and a 1.4-litre turbo (138bhp).
The diesel is a 1.7-litre (128bhp) and is the most economical in the range as it emits just 124g/km. The diesel variant is available in either two or four wheel drive variants.
Each of the Mokka engines offers fuel saving stop/start technology to improve fuel economy.
To match the Mokka’s three engines are its three trim levels: S, Exclusiv and SE. Standard entry-level equipment includes Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), roof rails, cruise control, digital radio, hill start assist and steering wheel mounted controls.
The top of the range SE trim offers bi-xenon headlights, leather seat facings, tinted rear windows, and front sport seats.
With its new found mini-SUV appeal, the Vauxhall brand will have a new competitive foothold in the car market and take on lucrative models like the Kia Sportage.
The new Vauxhall Mokka is expected to arrive in UK showrooms in November 2012.
Vauxhall Mokka prices start from just £16,995.
Vauxhall vehicles are available from Perry’s Vauxhall dealerships.
