The Double Cab Pickup, which will be driven in the film’s opening sequence by Daniel Craig’s co-star Naomie Harris, is also due to be showcased at the Paris Motor Show at the end of this week. The showcase will be part of Jaguar Land Rover’s celebrations of the Bond franchise in Paris.
James Bond is celebrating his fiftieth year on film in 2012, and though a Jaguar has been missing from the franchise for the last decade, a heavy Land Rover presence in Skyfall is making up for lost time.
77 cars were provided by Jaguar Land Rover to the Skyfall production team, which included the Defender, the Range Rover and the Jaguar XJ. These were for both on-screen filiming and for off-screen support vehicles.
“Bond is quintessentially British and Jaguar and Land Rover are two of the most established and globally recognized British brands, so it was a natural step for us to involve them in the film,” says co-producer Andrew Noakes.
The last Jaguar to appear in a Bond film was the Jaguar XKR Convertible as seen in Die Another Day, which was equipped with missiles and machine guns in the front grille. Skyfall is scheduled for release in the United Kingdom on 26 October.
The Paris Motor Show is open to the press on 27 September, opening its doors to the public at the weekend. Jaguar has a number of surprises lined up this year, which includes a preview of the new Jaguar F-Type. The all-new Range Rover will also get its public debut ahead of its launch in 2013.
