New Citroen Electric Berlingo Unveiled

Featuring the latest electric vehicle technology, the new Electric Berlingo will include all the award-winning capabilities in the current Berlingo range, including load volumes of up to 4.1m3and a payload capacity of 675kg.

The Electric version is the second generation of the popular Citroen van. The second generation is heavily influenced by the first generation, which was on sale in the United Kingdom until November 2005.

The new Citroen Berlingo electric van has a complete two-part battery pack installed under its flat load deck. It has a range of 106 miles thanks to its 22.5kWh battery capacity, and can be charged in two ways – one method is normal charge mode which takes 6-12 hours (depending on the current) and quick charge, which fills the battery to 80 per cent capacity in 30 minutes.

The motor was developed by Mitsubishi, and has a maximum power output of 67hp. The van also boasts an energy consumption/generation indicator, a deceleration and braking recovery system, an electric heating system, hill-start assist and much more besides.

Normal and Long bodywork options will be available for the Electric Berlingo, depending on the market, which stand at 4.38m and 4.63m respectively. Its maximum weight capacity is 675kg, and its load weight can reach 4.1m3.

Scott Michael, Citroën’s Head of Commercial Vehicles & Business Centre Programme, comments; “The launch of the new Electric Berlingo at Hanover is exciting news. When it goes on UK sale in the second half of 2013 it will further expand the appeal of Citroën’s advanced LCV range with business customers looking for innovative environmental transport solutions.”

Prices for the New Citroen Electric Berlingo van will be announced closer to its launch.
