2013 Ford Fiesta fully revealed

The car has been revealed ahead of its first public appearance at the 2012 Paris Motor Show later this month.

The Ford Fiesta supermini is currently the best-selling car overall this year in the UK market, with 67,103 sales registered after seven months of 2012 to date.

However with newer rivals like the Peugeot 208 and next Renault Clio threatening to take over in the competitive small car market, Ford has chosen to modernise the Fiesta further.

For next year the Ford Fiesta has been given a facelift; with the most noticeable differences to the current car include the new trapezoid-shaped grille, and the redesigned slimmer front lights.

A similar design to the Fiesta’s new grille has already been seen on other recent Ford models like the Focus ST hot hatch and the B-Max MPV.

Inside the Fiesta also has a remade interior, covered with extra metallic trim and higher quality materials all-round, bringing the car closer on par to its very recent rivals.

New gadgets have been added to the Fiesta’s standard equipment list, including a safety feature called Active City Stop. This device operates when the car is driven at low speed, and uses sensors to read what is in front of the Fiesta.

The Active City Stop can automatically apply the brakes when the driver is in danger of colliding into something in front of the car.

Another new gadget introduced by the 2013 Fiesta is Ford’s SYNC communications and entertainment system. With this feature, drivers can hook up their phone to the device and have texts read out by an onboard computer. Drivers can use their voice to respond to texts with pre-set messages, as well as control various other onboard functions of the car.

Engines available for the 2013 Ford Fiesta will include a 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine with 99bhp or 118bhp. This particular engine unit was honoured earlier this year with the 2012 International Engine of the Year title.

Other engines for the updated Fiesta will include a 74bhp 1.5-litre diesel, which also features on the upcoming Ford B-Max.

The 2013 Ford Fiesta will be available to order towards the end of 2012, with orders starting in January 2013 and prices likely to start from just under £10,000.

Potential customers will be able to order the 2013 Ford Fiesta at Perrys Ford Dealerships found in Aylesbury and High Wycombe.
