New Ford B-Max gets top safety rating

The result of the tests, which fire the car at objects including a block and a pole, showcase the safety technology included in the new five-seat people carrier, which goes on sale in the UK this month.

Perrys customers can pre-order the new Ford B-Max now from £13,000 and buyers will be pleased to see the top safety rating for the family car.

Ford’s Fiesta-size MPV is an eye-catching design including a lack of pillar between the front and rear doors (which slide open instead of the usual swing-doors).

However, this has not compromised safety after the car scored a massive 93 per cent for adult protection and 84 per cent for children protection in the new, stricter 2012 tests.

“Safety is a fundamental Ford value and we are delighted to achieve the maximum five-star rating from Euro NCAP,” said Tom Overington, Ford’s European safety project manager. “The team has worked very hard on making sure B-MAX meets the safety standards our customers expect from every Ford vehicle.”

The new Ford B-Max is one of the safest cars Ford has ever built, making use of ultra-high strength steels, seven airbags and a system that stops the car at low speeds if it detects an object in the way.

The car also includes voice activation to minimise distractions behind the wheel and an emergency assistance system that lets the driver call the emergency services in the event of an accident.

“Only vehicles offering all-round protection can be awarded a five-star rating under Euro NCAP’s new test protocol,” said Michiel van Ratingen, Euro NCAP secretary general. “Ford B-MAX is a great example of how this can be achieved by an innovative design, outstanding system engineering and smart technologies such as Active City Stop.”

The new Ford B-Max is on sale now at Perrys Ford dealerships.
