Lana Del Rey has signed a six-figure sum to become the face of Jaguar.
The Video Games singer posed in a big floppy hat in a swimming pool as the deal was announced. Lana’s first job will be to help launch the new Jaguar F-Type, with the campaign proper being expected to be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show toward the end of September. Jaguar has also recently released a new Jaguar XJ Ultimate Edition.
“The allure of Jaguar is in large part due to its duality – a unique blend of authenticity and modernity, two values that we believe are shared with Lana in her professional achievements,” comments global Jaguar brand director, Adrian Hallmark.
Lana Del Rey’s star has risen considerably over the last year. She’s also become the face of H&M, and had a Mulberry bag named after her. Catching the eye of one of the world’s most famous luxury car manufacturers must be the icing on the cake for the 26-year-old.
Lana, in fact, is something of a secret petrolhead. She’s recently been papped driving around Los Angeles in a vintage Mercedes-Benz, and has also written a song called Driving in Cars With Boys.
Lana isn’t the first singer to be recruited to help sell cars. Katie Melua was named as a Vauxhall ambassador in 2010, following in the footsteps of Boyzone’s Shane Lynch and Jennifer Ellison.
Lotus enlisted the aid of Swizz Beatz to help launch a chrome-coloured Lotus, while Jennifer Lopez is famous for her dealings with Fiat (well, famous for that and her singing, we mean). The Saturdays also featured a DS4 in their 30 Days video.
Jaguar has recently won praise for having the best dealerships in the UK.
