The new five-door family estate is being assembled at Kia’s car manufacturing in the city of Zilina, Slovakia. This production plant will also commence building of the new Pro_Cee’d, a three-door version of the hatchback model, starting from early 2013.
The second generation Kia Cee’d Sportswagon shares the same up-to-date styling which makes up the latest Kia Cee’d hatchback, launched in the UK back in June earlier this year.
Both the interior and exterior of the latest Cee’d range has already received plaudits including two separate awards at the Automotive Brand Contest 2012 earlier this month.
The Cee’d Sportswagon boasts extra interior space for passengers, and a large boot with 528 litres of capacity, 148 more than the Cee’d hatchback.
The total loading space of the Sportswagon can be increased to 1,642 litres when the rear seats are folded, that’s 324 litres more than the hatchback.
The Sportswagon’s engine list will include two petrol units and two diesels to choose from. Most likely they will be the same engines found with the current Cee’d hatchback, which offers an entry-level 99bhp 1.4-litre petrol and a 133bhp 1.6-litre petrol unit.
The two diesel options could include an 89bhp 1.4-litre unit and a 126bhp 1.6-litre engine.
Details on prices, specifications and equipment have yet to be disclosed, but will likely be announced very soon as the Kia Cee’d Sportswagon nears its UK launch.
The family estate will be available to buy at Perrys Kia Dealerships located in Burnley, Preston and Rotherham.
