Upgraded 2013 Kia Sorento eyes debut in Paris

The seven-seater 2013 Kia Sorento is an updated version of the current model with some new styling touches and a new petrol engine.

The 2013 Sorento is also built on a new platform for Kia, but is still considered an update rather than all-new model by the manufacturer. This new platform will be used for Kia’s next large SUV, the 2013 Santa Fe.

Thanks to the new platform the 2013 Sorento has a lower floor then before, meaning extra legroom in the second and third row of seats.

Kia also says the new platform will give the Sorento an improvement in handling and ride quality, as well as a minor boost in safety and other areas.

On the outside, the updated Sorento features a new grille, new headlamps plus new wheels and bumpers amongst a raft of exterior updates.

The engine range will retain the same two diesel engines found on the previous Kia Sorento, including a 148bhp 2.0-litre CRDi unit, as well as the 194bhp 2.2-litre CRDi.

The 2013 Kia Sorento is also set to offer a new petrol engine to European markets including potentially the UK. The unit is a 2.4-litre unit which also delivers 194bhp; performance figures are unknown at the moment.

Whichever engine customers choose, they will have a choice between a front or four-wheel drive powertrain featuring a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.

The 2013 Kia Sorento will be available to order as soon as it has been presented at the 2012 Paris Motor Show next month.

UK motorists can search for new and used Kia Sorento models at Perrys Kia dealerships in Burnley, Preston and Rotherham.
