Kia shortlisted for "Green Contribution to London" Award

The Annual London Lifestyle Awards has nominated Kia for its work and devotion to the environment, with the winners announced on 17 October at the Hurlingham Club in Fulham.

Kia is one of 6 companies in contention to win the ‘Green Contribution’ category. 4,127 businesses were originally in the running across all eighteen categories.

Kia has been nominated because of its eco-friendly business model, and the work the company does in the local community. Kia works with local schoolchildren through their Walking Bus scheme, which promotes walking to school for kids between the ages of 4 and 10.

The scheme is aimed to give young children a regular dose of daily exercise to improve their brain activity such as memory and concentration, as well as their overall health. The plan also teaches them about matters such as road safety, awareness of their local area and more.

Kia has also recently been recognised by independent technical inspection organisation TÜV Nord in Germany for its green manufacturing processes, awarding models such as the Kia cee’d hatchback and Kia Sorento SUV with prestigious ISO certificates.

Jason Gale creator of the London Lifestyle Awards said of the line-up of London stars, “Last year’s event was such a memorable night, with so many deserving people and businesses picking up awards.

“This year we have had to release a larger shortlist representing such amazing business and talented individuals who make London the greatest city in the world. The world’s eyes were on the capital this year with the 2012 Olympics and iconic Jubilee celebrations, and once again London has made us proud.”
