Sources speaking to Autocar.co.uk confirmed that the new convertible 4C is expected in 2015, a year after the Alfa Romeo 4C Coupe arrives at dealerships. The Alfa Romeo 4C Coupe is due for release in 2014. Prices for the Alfa Romeo 4C Coupe are expected to be around the £35,500 point.
Speculation is rampant that the car will have a light sheet-moulded, carbon-fibre body. That should see a reduction in mass, which may see the car have at least 235hp.
The 4C coupe is powered by a 1.8 litre turbocharged engine, and the 4C Convertible is expected to have a similar version under its hood.
The new Alfa Romeo 4C Coupe will be able to reach 62mph in 4.5 seconds thanks to its direct-injection 1750 TBi turbo four. The engine will also have an aluminium block instead of cast iron, which will make the car approximately 25kg lighter. The engine will also have high-pressure fuel injection upgrades and dual-clutch automatic transmission
The car has aluminium subframes which will be bolted to its carbonfibre tub. Its shape has also been carefully designed by the engineering team, to generate positive downforce and improve the car’s high-speed grip. Over 18,000 4Cs are expected to be produced during the model’s lifespan.
