Perrys prepares for new '62' car plates

Perrys Motors dealerships are preparing for a large number of customers coming to take a look at the likes of the new Ford B-Max and the Peugeot 208, two new models launched in time for the new plates.

These are particularly important cars according to the Society for Motoring Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

The group says over £4.95bn will be spent of new cars fitted with the new plate with the majority spent on small, fuel-efficient cars.

This bodes well for the likes of the Ford B-Max, whose 1.0-litre petrol engine is one of the most efficient in the market and at 114g/km is well below the industry average emissions of 138g/km of CO2 emissions for a new car.

A diesel 1.6-litre model offers even lower emissions at 104g/km and is eligible for free UK road tax in the first year.

Available at Perrys, the new Ford B-Max is just one of the cars expected to be popular when the ’62’ plates arrive, according to Paul Everitt, SMMT Chief Executive.

He said: “Franchised dealers have a fantastic range of exciting new models on offer, each with enhanced levels of fuel efficiency, safety, comfort and affordable finance. These advantages make it a great time to buy a new car and motorists should visit their local dealer to secure a new 62-plate in September.”

However, September will represent the biggest choice new car buyers have when looking for a new car. There are over 300 fuel-efficient models on the road including the likes of the Ford Fiesta and Vauxhall Corsa, the two best-selling cars in the UK this year.
