Renault has asked fans to choose their favourite summer car by leaving comments on a blog post – and has been inundated with votes for the tiny electric car.
The Twizy, a distinctive two-seat car without traditional doors, has garnered the majority of votes on the website ahead of the Renault Espace people carrier and Renault Megane Coupe-Cabriolet, the only drop-top in the shortlist.
Comments about the Twizy include one poster describing it as a ‘beautiful and small car’ while another says it is ‘new, funny, fresh, easy and environmentally friendly’.
The Twizy fever is the latest praise for the unique car, which runs on purely electric power and can reach speeds of up to 50mph.
Designed for city driving, the Twizy has a range of 60 miles and costs less than £7,000 in the UK. With a 6.2-metre turning circle and tiny dimensions, it is an ideal car for the city.
Renault describes the Twizy as half car and half motorcycle and with a weight of just 450kg, it is one of the lightest and most agile cars on the market today.
Available now from specialist electric Perrys Renault dealerships the Renault Twizy is the third of four planned electric vehicles from the French manufacturer.
The first, the Renault Kangoo ZE van, was launched late last year. It was followed by the four-door Renault Fluence saloon.
Towards the end of 2012, the Clio-size Renault Zoe electric car will be launched in the UK to complete the quartet.
The Renault Zoe will cost around £14,000 and will seat four in its hatchback-style design. For more information contact your nearest Renault dealership.
