Orders for models with this new engine can be made at Perrys Vauxhall dealerships starting from 2 August 2012. First deliveries of the BiTurbo Astra arrive to customers in late 2012.
In either the hatchback or Sport Tourer specification, the new BiTurbo engine produces 187bhp, making it the most powerful diesel ever by Vauxhall. It allows the Astra to cover the 0-60mph sprint in less than eight seconds, while the top speed is 135mph.
The Vauxhall Astra BiTurbo also officially returns 55.4mpg on the combined cycle and emits just 134g/km in CO2.
These figures are achieved thanks in part to the BiTurbo’s stop-start engine technology which automatically cuts the engine and saves fuel when the car becomes stationary.
Vauxhall Astra models featuring the BiTurbo engine also receive some luxury equipment including 18″ alloy wheels, alloy sport pedals
Pricing for the Vauxhall Astra BiTurbo begins at £24,095 for the hatchback, while the Sport Tourer costs £25,110.
