American automotive brand Chevrolet will be teaming up with Liverpool Football club (LFC) until the end of the 2015/16 season.
The sponsorship will see the Chevy brands logo advertised around LFC’s home ground, Anfield, and on various other platforms, including the clubs fan site and merchandise.
As well as sponsoring the clubs seasonal football, Chevrolet will also be sponsoring its pre-season North American Tour, which has already seen it play Toronto FC. Other matches in the pre-season line-up include AS Roma at Fenway Park in Boston, and Tottenham Hotspur in Baltimore.
The Chevrolet brand is well known for its media awareness as new models, such as the Aveo supermini, have taken part various wacky stunts – including a bungee jump and skydive.
The move from coast to coast will be further enforced with the release of the new Chevrolet Camaro muscle car, which is being released in the UK sometime in the near future.
The Camaro will broaden the brands appeal as it currently features models in every segment, except for the sporty muscle car sector, which the Camaro will subsequently fill.
Ian Ayre, Managing Director of Liverpool Football Club said: “Much like our Club, Chevrolet has a long, rich history with a growing, global brand and this landmark partnership once again demonstrates the value of Liverpool’s international appeal.”
It is not the first time a football club has been sponsored by a car manufacturer. Earlier this year Chevrolet teamed up with Liverpool’s big rivals, Manchester United, in a similar deal.
Meanwhile, Arsenal enjoy a tie-in with Citroen, which has even extended to the brand supplying young players with driving lessons.
Chevrolet vehicles are available from Perry’s Chevrolet dealerships.
