The new hot hatch from Ford took part in the chase scene as part of promotions for new film The Sweeney, which sees the new Ford star as the car of choice for the stars of the film.
The new Ford Focus ST used in the film is a 250PS version capable of 154mph courtesy of a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine.
While a 0-62mph sprint time of 6.5 seconds is longer than the V8 Jaguar’s sub-five second time, the Ford Focus ST is also much cheaper than the larger saloon.
The New Ford Focus ST prices start from £21,995 for entry-level models, which come with generous specification including 18″ alloy wheels, DAB radio, Bluetooth and USB connectivity.
Higher specification Focus ST 2 trims add partial leather trim, rain sensitive wipers, auto headlights, self-dimming mirror and ST floor mats. Ford Focus ST 2 prices start from £23,495.
At the top of the range, the £25,495 Ford Focus ST 3 models include leather trim, heated front seats, power fold mirror, keyless entry and Bi-Xenon headlamps.
The Ford Focus ST was chosen to star in The Sweeney because the original television series featured a selection of Ford cars including a Ford Cortina and Ford Granada models.
The new film, based on police working in London, is set to include a Ford Focus ST car chase as one of its climactic scenes.
Director and co-writer, Nick Love, said: “It was important for me to collaborate with Ford on The Sweeney as their legacy with the original TV show is so strong – they’re the perfect partner. I like the Ford Focus ST so much, I want one!”
The new Ford Focus ST is on sale now at Perrys Ford dealerships and prices start from £21,995.
