New Mazda MX-5 ‘Black’ special edition revealed

The Mazda MX-5 Kuro Special Edition, which translates as ‘black in Japanese’, will add styling touches to the standard Sport Tech specification currently available for the world’s best-selling two-seat roadster.

Available in the 1.8-litre petrol soft-top convertible and the 2.0-litre petrol coupe, there are chances inside and out for the new Mazda MX-5 Kuro Special Edition.

These include a choice of white, black or red body colour with ‘Brilliant Black’ roof and door mirrors and dark gunmetal 17″ alloy wheels.

There are also black highlights to the rear sports bumper, front grille and front fog lights. Mazda has also added a sports exhaust, race-car-inspired graphics to the body and Kuro Special Edition badges.

Inside the Mazda MX-5 Kuro Special Edition ‘Stone and Black’ leather seats, leather door inserts set off by red stitching, alloy medals and premium floor mats.

Only 200 versions of the Mazda MX-5 special edition soft-top and 400 of the coupe will be available in the UK as Mazda launches its latest special edition roadster based on the long-running MX-5.

Peter Allibon, Sales Director, Mazda UK: “Special Edition models of the MX-5 are incredibly popular in the UK and now the ‘Kuro’ offers a unique combination of sports focused exterior styling and sophisticated leather interior fittings – in a sportscar that remains unrivalled as an exhilarating drive that can also be used everyday.”

New Mazda MX-5 Kuro Special Edition prices start from £18,495 for the soft-top and £21,995 for the coupe version.

The special edition is available now from Perrys Mazda dealerships in the UK.
