Jaguar C-X16 concept wins design award

The Jaguar C-X16 concept was first unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show back in September 2011 and has been in the glossy design limelight ever since.

The AutoExpress awards are renowned for representing the true voice of automotive customers as the winning models are voted by the readers, meaning the awards depict what the people want.

The Jaguar C-X16 concept, AKA the new Jaguar F-Type, features a distinctive body shape which as well as echoing the classic jaguar design language, adds its own futuristic appeal.

With a stretched body, slim wrap around headlights and a steep coupe roofline, the C-X16 conveys a much sleeker aerodynamic appeal to the likes of the Jaguar XF and Jaguar XJ.

Steve Fowler, editor-in-chief, Auto Express, commented; “We knew what a fabulous design the C-X16 was from the moment the covers were taken off at the Frankfurt motor show last year. Now it’s clear that our readers agree – the C-X16 was a clear winner in our poll. It’s huge credit to Jaguar’s design team and bodes well for the forthcoming F-TYPE, which the car previews.”

However, the innovative style of the new C-X16 concept does not hinder its performance as it will feature a meaty 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine which produces 375bhp. This V6 engine propels the C-X16 from 0-62mph in just 4.4 seconds and can reach a top speed of 186mph.
