Vauxhall has announced a sporty special edition version of its popular Corsa supermini, the Corsa Black Edition, of which it will make just 500 units.
It is a common trend for manufactures to release sporty special editions of their most popular models and it seems Vauxhall has decided that it is the Corsa’s turns as it releases the new Vauxhall Corsa Black Edition.
The new Black Edition builds on the style of the Corsa with both interior and exterior enhancements, plus the addition of a new powertrain.
The Corsa Black Edition is available in both three and five-door variants. From the outside it gains a black logo bar and side sills, 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, dark style headlights and a rear spoiler.
The sport theme continues to its interior as it offers a leather covered steering wheel, matt chrome air vent surrounds, sport seats and sport pedals. A Touch and Connect infotainment system and climate control are optional.
Under the bonnet the Corsa Black Edition makes use of a 1.4-litre petrol engine that produces 118bhp and 175Nm of torque. It can also reach a top speed of 121mph and 0-60 in just 9.7 seconds.
As Vauxhall have incorporated stop/start technology, it returns 51.4mpg and CO2 emissions as low as 129g/km.
This new special edition is not such as surprise release from the GM owned manufacturer as the Corsa is one of Vauxhall’s top selling models. In fact, the Corsa was the market’s best selling model in May this year as it sold 8,413 units.
Prices for the Vauxhall Corsa Black Edition start from £15,995.
Vauxhall vehicles are available from Perry’s dealerships.
