This is the new, premium Citroen C4 saloon, but UK buyers will not be able to get behind the wheel of the latest model.
Instead, the Citroen C4 L will go on sale in China and other markets where the four-door saloon body style in still popular.
Citroen feels the UK is well-served by the new Citroen C4 hatchback and the distinctive, more premium Citroen DS4, which adds a higher ride height, more dramatic design and an upmarket interior to the standard C4.
This means the Citroen C4 L saloon, which resembles the DS Line of cars in its premium design, will not be available in UK Citroen dealerships.
However, it does indicate the Citroen DS Line, which includes the customisable Citroen DS3, Citroen DS4 and the stylish Citroen DS5 in the UK, has been a success for Citroen.
Citroen says the C4 L is ‘lounge-like’ inside with wraparound seats, reclining backrests and heated windscreen and air ioniser.
The car also includes hands-free access and engine start along with GPS and a reversing camera.
It comes with Citroen’s petrol engine range, developing alongside BMW, meaning the groundbreaking diesel-hybrid used in the Citroen DS5 will not be used.
The powertrain, labelled HYbrid4, delivers 200bhp and sub-100g/km of CO2 emissions in the four-wheel drive model and is one of the greenest large cars on the market.
Citroen’s DS Line, including the new Citroen DS3, new Citroen DS4 and new Citroen DS5, are available now from Perrys Citroen dealerships.
