The magazine used a new Ford Focus for a year and over 28,600 miles visited the dealership twice, both times praising the service and prices.
The first service for the new hatchback was after 12,500 miles and the Perrys Motors service centre in High Wycombe ‘came up trumps’, according to Auto Car.
“Our early-build Focus was the first new-shape model they’d encountered,” said the review. “The mechanic reckoned that the latest car was easier to work on than the outgoing model.
“The first bill was a very reasonable £238 and left us with good feelings.”
A second service was ‘slightly higher’ but the service was described as ‘equally good’ by Auto Car. In fact, the magazine added: “The best mainstream dealers now often match premium outlets, with less fuss.”
The car, a Ford Focus 1.6-litre diesel model, was praised for its versatility, comfort, responsiveness and equipment.
The 1.6-litre diesel delivers 67.3mpg on the combined cycle despite offering a top speed of 120mph and a 0-60mph time of 10.7 seconds.
The 1.6-litre Focus delivers CO2 emissions of 109g/km but smaller diesel options can offer road tax-free variations with CO2 emissions under 100g/km.
Auto Car describes the new Ford Focus as a ‘special car’. The five-door hatchback is also an affordable car, with Ford Focus prices starting from just £14,000 and a range of petrol and diesel engines available.
